How does laser hair removal take place at Silkor?
Hair grows in three cycles. First, the active or growth cycle (Anagen) next, the dormant cycle (Catagen) and finally, the fall-out or shedding cycle (Telogen). Laser hair removal is most effective during the growth cycle (Anagen). The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light and converts the light to heat. The heat damages the follicle and destroys its ability to re-grow without damaging delicate pores or structures of the skin. It is important to treat each follicle during the growth cycle for maximum hair removal.
Why do I need several sessions?
Because the laser affects hair follicles only when they are in the growth phase, more than one treatment may be necessary to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter the growth phase. During your consultation, you will be advised as to the approximate number of treatments.
How is laser different from electroepilation?
Electroepilation treatment removes one hair at a time. Laser is much quicker. An area like the underarms, for example, can be treated in just 10 minutes. Who performs laser hair removal? All laser hair removal treatments are performed by one of Silkor's well-trained medical professionals. Before performing any treatments, each practitioner is extensively trained not only at Silkor's state of the art training facility and experienced staff, but also by the manufacturer of each laser utilized at that location. Additionally, a licensed medical doctor serves as a medical director of each individual location and oversees all treatment and competency of the medical staff.
What experience does Silkor have with laser hair removal?

Which areas can be treated?
Facial areas (lips, chin, cheeks...), neck, armpits, bikini line, around the nipples.... Large body areas such as full back, full chest, shoulders, full legs, arms... How long will it take? Because the laser treats many hairs at a time, facial areas (lip, chin, etc.) can be treated in 5-10 minutes. Small body areas (underarms, bikini, etc.) take less than 15 minutes. Larger body areas (full back, legs, arms. etc.) usually take about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area.
What are the machines used at Silkor?
Offering superior results to the widest variety of patients is crucial. Therefore, to perfectly match the needs of any practice for any kind of hair and skin we at Silkor use the Alexandrite laser, the Diode laser, the Nd:Yag Laser and the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). While many laser hair removal centers use a "one-laser-fits-all" mentality, Silkor has multiple FDA-approved lasers onsite.
• Diode laser (Lumenis OneTM, LightSheerTM): perfect for permanent hair removal for all skin types (white, olive, dark and tanned skin) and thick coarse facial and body hair.
• Alexandrite laser (EliteTM ): permanent hair removal for very white skin and dark hair and therefore used only for 15-20% of our cases
• Nd:Yag (Lumenis OneTM): deep penetration with minimal scattering of laser energy makes ND:Yag ideal for all skin types, especially dark and tanned skin.
• Intense Pulsed Light "IPL" (Lumenis OneTM, QuantumTM): used as photo-waxing and for aesthetic purposes; ideal for short term hair removal (not permanent): and making the hair grow thinner.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Alongside the exclusive double-cooling system, Silkor has introduced the new ZEROpain vacuum technology. The ZEROpain vacuum technology produces gentle suction.
• The treatment area is slightly stretched. This allows the laser light to interact more efficiently with the desired target; melanin in the hair follicle. Less energy is lost to pigment in the skin and blood flow in surrounding tissue.
• Nerve endings are stimulated by the vacuum, “fooling” nerve endings into perceiving less pain.
• The vacuum pulls the hair follicles closer to the laser surface. This allows for deeper penetration, with a reduced need for laser energy (about 60%.) Ultimately treatments are more comfortable. The exclusive double-cooling system includes the “Smart Cool” and the “ChillTip”.
• The “Smart Cool” is an air cooler that blows a continuous stream of cold air (4 degree Celsius) on the skin before, during and after the laser pulse.
• The “ChillTip” protects the skin and actively cools it before, during and after the treatment and allows the use of higher treatment energy for maximum results.
This minimizes any discomfort. If needed, clients can also use a topical anesthetic.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
New technology is capable of giving permanent removal for ALL skin types, both male and female, for ALL parts of the body, except around the eyes. The number of sessions needed to achieve these results can vary from person to person depending on many factors such as age, skin type and amount of hair, hair color, hair texture, and hormonal balance.
How many sessions do I need to achieve smooth skin?
Most people will need 3 to 5 treatments. In some areas, such as the bikini line, faster results will be achieved. On the other hand, results may vary from person to person, which means that you can get faster results then someone else.
How do I know when to come for my next treatment?
Facial Hair: Usually after first treatment, facial hair will shed within a couple of days. Your next treatment will be when you start to see new hair growth, which is usually 4 to 6 weeks after the first treatment.
Body Hair: Body parts are the best place for laser hair removal. The first 3 treatments may have to be 4 to 8 weeks apart. Then you may need to come for the following treatments every 8 to 12 weeks.
Will I have hair between the sessions? How will I look?
Your treated area will be cleared of most of the present hair during the treatment, while the rest of the treated hair will shed in two weeks leaving the area smooth and clean. Depending on the area, the skin will remain COMPLETELY clean and smooth for around 6 to 8 weeks in total, starting with the treatment date; and the time for your next session will be when you start to see little fine hairs starting to grow again. Repeating the sessions on time, the area will remain hair free throughout the entire multiple session procedure. You will look completely clean and smooth.
How soon do I expect to see results? How do I know it is working for me?
You will see results starting with your VERY FIRST session. The hair growth will be less and the hairs finer and weaker; your skin will become smoother; and the hair pores on your skin will become less visible after each session. The results will become more impressive with each following session.
What are the risks or possible side effects involved?
With our machines and our sufficient experience, you will not experience any damage to your skin. All the possibilities are short term reactions such as a redness which may take from a few minutes to several hours to fade away. Most people can get treated during their lunch time and there will be no visible indications when they return to their office.
Is Laser Hair Removal for everyone?
Laser hair removal will not work on white, grey, light red or light blond hair follicles. Also people who are experiencing PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) may experience poor results unless they receive medical support along with the laser treatment.
Can I choose to achieve finer and less hair in some areas rather than a full removal? Yes you can. We at Silkor can customize your treatment according to your needs and expectations. You can weaken and reduce your hair in any area while still leaving a certain amount. I have ingrown hairs on my face, legs, bikini area and back.
Would laser help?
Absolutely; even after one treatment you will notice that most of your ingrown hairs will be terminated. Within a few weeks, the area will be smooth and the color of your skin will return to your original skin color. How are the treatments priced? Prices are usually given per area per session or as a flat fee. This is for the convenience of the client of course, since as a consumer you will always have the option to stop after the number of sessions we believe is enough for you. However, multiple area and multiple treatment discounts are also available and can be discussed at our free Silkor consultation.
What happens to the skin after the treatment?
Within several minutes of the treatment, the treated area may become slightly red. This reaction subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and the area returns to normal. You are able to reapply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities.
