What are skin tags?
Skin tags are small brown or flesh-colored growths that hang from the surface of your skin. They are made of loose collagen fibers and blood vessels surrounded by skin. Although skin tags are common, they are completely harmless and are usually only a few millimeters in size.
How to get rid of skin tags?
Following a consultation, Silkor’s Dermatologist will be able to perform a minor surgery to remove unwanted skin tags found anywhere on your body. Some of the methods used are snipping the skin tag off with surgical scissors, freezing it with liquid Nitrogen or burning it off with special chemicals.
What are moles?
Moles are small brown or black patches, which form on the skin. They can be flat or raised and some might have hair growing from them. They are usually circular or oval. Moles are caused by skin cells that form in clusters, called, ‘melanocytes’, which usually produce the color or pigment in the skin.
How to remove moles?
There are 2 general methods that Silkor’s Dermatologists use for mole ablation after injecting a local anaesthetic to avoid pain. The 1st method is surgical excision, which involves cutting out the entire mole and stitching the skin if necessary. As for the 2nd method, surgical shaving, the dermatologist uses a surgical blade to remove the mole.
What are warts & verruca?
Warts can be a common problem in men and women of all ages, and verruca is the name given to a wart on the sole of the foot. Warts are small lumps on the surface of the skin, which usually occur on the fingers, knuckles and palms and feel firm to the touch. Verrucae, as mentioned, can occur on the sole of the foot or toes. They are under the skin and usually have distinctive tiny black dots, which are blood vessels. Warts do not cause pain but they could be itchy and a verruca could cause some pain and can feel like standing on a needle.
How to remove warts & verruca?
Silkor’s Dermatologist will decide on the best way to get rid of your warts and stubborn verrucas without the risk of scaring. Yet, in general, the procedure takes less than 30 minutes where he cuts away the wart or destroys it by using an electric needle and curettage. Since this procedure is painful, it is performed under local anesthetic and may require stitches.
What are milia?
Milia are small white or yellowish raised cysts, bumps or spots on the skin. They are usually found as clutters around the eye area and cheeks, but can appear anywhere on the face or body. Milia feel quite hard and do not have any redness or inflammation. They are mainly caused by the build-up of Keratin under the surface of the skin.
What are milia removal methods?
Milia are not contagious or harmful in any way but some people may feel self-conscious about them, especially if they are on the face. The best way to remove milia is “needle extraction”. Once the skin with milia has been cleaned, a sterile needle is used to create a tiny incision and the contents of the milia are carefully extracted.
