    About the Service

    What are vascular lesions?

Vascular lesions are common skin, vascular and tissues’ abnormalities. They can be congenital or acquired with time and appear on the face, neck and the body’s skin. There are many types of vascular lesions, yet the most popular among men and women are thread veins, also called spider veins, that may appear on the face and body, mainly legs. Leg thread veins are different from varicose veins, which are larger and deeper, may appear lumpy or twisted, are usually red in color and require medical attention. Another type that men and women complain about is Telangiectasia, which is a form of Rosacea that may appear on the face and body too. It is simply tiny blood vessels that are close to the surface of the skin. They look like thin red, purple or blue lines.

What is the treatment of vascular lesions?

Are you worried about finding the right treatment for your condition? Not anymore! At Silkor, upon the dermatologist’s consultation, you will be guided to get the best treatment for your aesthetical condition whether it is facial or body Telangiectasia, facial spider veins or leg thread veins. In many cases, the treatment is usually a combination of laser and sclerotherapy (add a hyperlink to the other article).

Laser treatment for facial and leg thread veins

By far, laser is your best friend if you want to treat almost all types of vascular lesions. There are many types of lasers used in the treatment. They are safe, effective and they selectively target unwanted or abnormal blood vessels in the skin minimizing damage to the surrounding normal skin. Using brief pulses of laser, the unwanted veins are broken down. The laser heats up the veins quickly causing them to collapse in on themselves. At Silkor, we use the best ranges of laser, the Medlite Q-Switched Nd: Yag laser machine.

How many sessions do I need?

You can have this treatment on most areas of your face, neck and legs. There is often a visible reduction in unwanted veins by as much as 75% with one to three treatments. Yet, the most interesting part is that the results are permanent! In general, the treatment is easy with no pain and every session requires a maximum of 20 minutes of your precious time with no downtime afterwards.

What should you do before your laser treatment?

    • Avoid exposing the area to be treated to sun or tanning beds or self-tanning creams 1 week before the treatment.
    • Don’t scrub the treated area before 5 days from the session
    • Avoid using Retin A, Accutane and facial peels 1 week before the treatment
    • Do not apply any kind of essential oils, make-up, creams, lotions or perfumes on the area to be treated

    And after your treatment …

You might feel slight discomfort and the treated area may appear flushed and warm so ice packs should be placed on all veins, 3 to 4 times per day. You may also experience some bruising or swelling but this should end within 72 hours. If blistering or crusting occur, allow it to fall off naturally. Don’t forget to use SPF 50 on the treated areas at all times. Make sure to avoid:
    • Rubbing or scratching the treated area
    • Saunas, very hot showers or swimming in chlorinated water for 4 to 5 days
    • Shaving for 3 days
    • Sun exposure, tanning beds (Solarium) and tanning creams during the course of the treatments
