Before the treatment:

Inform the doctor about all health conditions, medications, vitamins, and/or supplements you’re taking.
Do not apply lotions, perfumes, deodorants, or nail polish.
Refrain from aspirin or any blood thinners.

During the treatment:

Anesthesia might be administered, to alleviate the pain. This all depends on the consultation between you and your doctor. In addition to that, bring someone to drive you post procedure, in case local anesthesia or sedative medications are administered.

The procedure usually takes an hour and during the treatment, your provider will detect your vein using an ultrasound, then make a small incision in your leg, usually below your knee or near your ankle. What is Sclerotherapy?

What is Lipedema?

After the consultation, the Dermatologist performs a minor surgery to remove unwanted skin tags, either by snipping the skin tag off with surgical scissors, freezing it with liquid Nitrogen, or burning it off with special chemicals.

Moles are small brown or black patches, which form on the skin. Moles are caused by skin cells that form in clusters, called, ‘melanocytes’, which usually produce the color or pigment in the skin.

After your consultation the minor procedure, called “mole ablation” is conducted by our Dermatologists. There are two ways in which this is completed, however before both a local anaesthetic is injected to avoid pain.

The 1^st method is surgical excision, which involves cutting out the entire mole and stitching the skin if necessary.

Warts are small painless lumps that are firm and usually appear on fingers, knuckles and palms.
Verruca is the name given to a wart under the skin that specifically appears on the sole of the foot. They usually have distinctive tiny black dots, which are blood vessels and cause some pain.

During the consultation the Dermatologist will decide on the best way to get rid of your warts and stubborn verrucas without the risk of scaring. Usually, the procedure takes less than 30 minutes where the imperfections are either destroyed using an electric needle and curettage or it’s cut off.
Since this procedure is painful, it is performed under local anesthetic and may require stitches.

Milia are small white or yellowish raised cysts, bumps or spots on the skin caused by the build-up of Keratin under the surface of the skin. They are usually found as clutters around the eye area and cheeks, but can appear anywhere on the face or body.

Milia cysts are not contagious or harmful in any way. The best way to remove them is through “needle extraction”. Once the skin with milia has been cleaned, a sterile needle is used to create a tiny incision and the contents of the milia are carefully extracted.

How does it work?

The steps are simple and effective.
– A probe (thin and soft needle) is inserted into the hair follicle.
– A brief very low electric current is released.
– The hair is removed without resistance with tweezers.

After each epilation session, we use Cataphoresis (if there are no contraindications to direct current) which is a positively charged aftercare treatment.
This diminishes redness providing soothing protection to the treated area.

There are no nerve receptors on the hair follicles, and since the current only targets that, then there’s no pain over here!

Apply a topical anesthetic for pain relief if you’ve got a sensitive skin.
Remove any makeup, creams, oil or body lotion/milk of the treatment area.
Make sure there are no open sores, lesions, allergy or skin infection affecting the treatment area.
Refrain from using bleaching and exfoliating creams 3 to 4 days prior to the treatment.

After your session

Apply cold gauzes or ice packs to reduce swelling.
Refrain from applying ice packs directly on your skin; instead, wrap it with a paper or a cloth towel, and make sure you don’t keep it in direct contact with the skin for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Monitor the treated area for blisters, swelling, crusts or scabs.
Avoid scratching or irritating the area during the healing process.
Do not use harsh soaps, medicated washes, scrubs and peels.
Keep the treated area hydrated with soothing cream(s) prescribed by your Silkor practitioner.
Do not expose treated area to the sun.
Avoid excessive sweating, swimming, saunas or hot tubs and vigorous working out for 24 to 48hrs.
Apply SPF 50 sunblock on the treated areas at all times.
Take painkillers only if there’s discomfort 24 hours after the treatment.

After your treatment

The following instructions and guidelines will help your recovery process:

Before the operation:

Rest well, as your body needs all the energy it can get to heal.
Keep your face clean for sanitary and hygienic purposes, it’s very important to wash and exfoliate your skin prior to surgery.
Drink more water during the days leading up to your rhinoplasty – ingest about twice as much as you usually do.
Let someone be ready to drive you home post-surgery, for safety purposes – as the rhinoplasty is a one-day operation.
Get all the medication prescribed by your surgeon and have them ready at home before you have the procedure.

After the operation:

Elevate your head as much as possible during the early post-operative period.
Start your liquid diet as soon as you get home and gradually move to a normal diet. Avoid chewing for the first week and hot beverages for 48 hours.
Try to refrain from smoking cigarettes during the first 2 weeks after surgery as it hinders the healing and increases the risk of complications.
You will be given an appointment to come to the office for a follow up visit 2 or 3 days after surgery. At this visit nasal packing (if used) will be removed.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure for the first 3 months after surgery. Always apply SPF 30 if you’re going outdoors.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Breast Surgery

The following instructions and guidelines will help your recovery process.
You are also advised to follow your doctor’s instructions before and after the surgery.

Before:

Fast from 12:00 midnight/or 8 hours before surgery (no food/no drink)
Abide by your prescribed pain medication. Sometimes antibiotics are recommended

After the surgery

Prior to waking from the operation, you will be wearing a surgical bra that holds the implants in position. This strap holds the implants in place as the muscle heals and it must be worn at all times.
Loose and comfortable clothing is advised post-operation.
A circumferential pressure bandage after surgery will be wrapped around the operated areas. This will be removed and replaced with an elastic brassiere at your first check-up visit.
A liquid diet is required when you arrive home with a gradual progress to a normal diet given by your nutritionist.
Sometimes surgical drains are inserted and the nurse will teach you how to empty them and record the amount of fluid leaving your body (usually these drains are removed at your first check-up visit).

During the first week, attempt to sleep on your back instead of on your side and ensure your implants remain in perfect position during your healing process.
It is normal to have a feeling of tightness and pressure on your chest. This feeling will gradually subside as your body adjusts to having the implants in place.

A plastic brassier is worn for 3 weeks, while you may continue to wear it beyond that if it provides support and comfort.
Regular bras maybe worn after the first three weeks if they are comfortable.

After bathing or showering, the pressure bandage is taken off, however, you must remove the brassiere and replace it after your bath or shower – it is okay for the stitches to get wet.
The gauzes can be removed underneath the bra and replaced if necessary.
Do not remove the small white bandage strips that lie on top of your incisions.
Any aerobic or straining activity should be avoided for at least three weeks, to avoid bleeding, bruising and swelling. No bending or lifting. If you need to bend, do so from the knees and go straight down maintaining a vertical line. The doctor will give you advice to increase your activity according to the progress of your recovery.
Slight movement is advised after your surgery in order to avoid blood clots.

Breast implants are not considered to be lifetime devices therefore, they may need to be replaced. You can consult your plastic surgeon for an annual examination to evaluate your breast health and implant integrity.

Over time, your breasts will change due to aging, weight fluctuations, hormonal factors and gravity. As the appearance of breasts change with time, some patients may undergo a breast lift or an implant exchange to restore a more youthful contour.
